I haven’t been back to Malawi in 3 years. I haven’t seen my parents, siblings, extended family and friends since then. Though tough being away from them for so long, I have adapted and learned to redefine what home means to me.
I have come to appreciate and understand that home looks and feels different to all of us. Getting to know what smells, tastes, sounds or feels like home to others helps me change my perspective when I can’t easily find what brings me the comfort and peace of my loved ones.
Going back to that familiar and cozy place, I would love to learn what others consider their home.
If you would like to participate in a personal project I am working on, please fill out this form with what home feels like to you.
Submissions can be anonymous. If you would like to send a voice note (which I would be ecstatic to listen to), please send it to cheyenne.araujo.mw@gmail.com
I can’t wait to read the responses and share the project when complete!
